1.) Sending investigators disguised as patients to uncover fraud and waste.
- Obama knows this already takes place.
2.) Expanding medical malpractice reform pilot programs
- Pelosi already stated that Tort Reform was not her priority.
3.) Increasing payments to Medicaid providers
- The senate bill opposes this and senate Dems already said they wont support it.
4.) Expanding the use of health savings accounts.
- Dems in both House/Senate have already said they would not support this.
Does Obama actually think we’re going to fall for this crap? There is no compromise with these four points from Republicans because Obama knows that the Dems already oppose 3 out of the 4 whether he supports them or not! Truly, utterly unbelievable.
VOICE - Explain to me how offering a compromise regarding an aspect of the healthcare bill Obama already knows the Dems have no intention of changing is offering to work with Republicans…I’ll wait…
VOICE I’m still waiting…

Ashley asked: i have two jobs that i’m fairly sure will offer me a position. the first is at a holistic pet food store that i’m sure would be a lot of fun. it has a casual atmosphere and pays a little more than minimum wage (about $2/hr more than the second). however, it is only a part time job (that wants a flexible schedual so i don’t think taking them both is an option) and they don’t offer real healthcare benefits, more like a savings account. i have a trial shift with them next tuesday and i’m sure they’ll love me.
the second is at barnes and noble. i’ve worked there before and left on good terms so i don’t think getting back on would be a problem. i have an interview with them tonight. they pay minimum wage, but i’m pretty sure i’d get more hours. they’re more of a corporate (not “fun”) atmosphere, but they do have health benefits after i’ve worked there a while.
also, i would like to start school either at the end of september or the beginning of next year. but i think it would only be probably 2 classes.
what do you think i should do? would it be worth it to **** it up and take the boring job in order to get healthcare and more hours? or should i take the more enjoyable one with less hours?
I **** SPAM!!! why does it always target this section of yahoo answers?
i am young, but married. i make the majority of the money because my husband goes to school full time and has a weekend job. so i can’t really rely on parents to take care of me.

eirama21 asked:
The office at JAG is closed for now, but I plan on making an appointment asap. So, I was hoping for the best info I could get before I consult an attorney. Husband is Army E-4 with 7.5 years in, no articles 15’s. DC BAH is around $1790. Been married the last 4.5 years of that. I am legal resident of Maryland, his is Hawaii or home of record is in Montana. No kids. Neither one of us cheated. He called it irreconcible differences. We have always had separate checkings and savings account, retirement funds, etc. Only real debt is car @$7750 left. He plans to have me move out of the residence at the end of March since his LPN at Walter Reed starts in early May. He plans for us to sign a legal separation agreement at end of March since in the state of MD, a couple must be legally separated for a year before they can get an absolute divorce. MD says it is an equal distribution state. SO, question is how much is he required by law, if any, to pay me in support? We’d still be legally married until April 2011. He says I will get my health & dental insurance still and that he will pay me $700/month and pay the car off & put it only in my name(will be around 1.5-2 years left in payments). He’s been planning this for so long and knew so many of the laws, and it came as a shock to me when I thought we were about to just have a serious talk about the relationship. He says we are not happy and not fair to one another to stay together. I have gone through a series of emotions. Even when I got to the point where I started getting mad, I was using a normal tone of voice, but asking very direct questions. Last night he just threatened to take away some of the monthly $budget. I want it to work out, but he’s already made up his mind and only has to wait due to the law. He does not want to go to marital counseling. Renting a room here to keep my job in a high cost of living area, is a tough choice since hard to find another job. My family is in Alabama so I’d probably move back there. I make only $14/hr here & once I did find a job in AL, it might be only $12/hr. I currently work as an 1:1 aide at a private school for emotionally disturbed students and also have experience with autistic spectrum disorder. What legal suggestions and tips do you have? Thank you for your time in reading this and offering advice.

Paul asked: And so, it might be unwise for a healthy person to purchase health insurance on the individual open market?
First, we have the insurance companies as a profit-taking industry. They exist to make money. So obviously they take in more premiums than they pay out for medical expenses. Right off the bat, we have a negative expected value for the buyers of health insurance. In other words, you should expect that the premiums you pay to the health insurance company will be more than the benefits you get back, on average.
But on top of that, for a HEALTHY person, the difference would be even greater. Since your risk is grouped together with the risk of more unhealthy people (obese, smokers, etc), you’re basically subsidizing their insurance. So the difference between your premiums and the expected benefits you get back is even more.
It seems like a very fit, health-conscious person is really taking it on the chin by buying health insurance in the individual market. Maybe they’d often be better off by just building up a health savings account and self-insuring?

jessica s asked:
i havent lived with my parents for nearly two years. im seventeen. since i was a minor at 15, my savings account that i was putting the money from my 3 jobs was legally under my fathers name. he withdrew all $600 and refuses to give it back to me. that was about a year ago. now even though im still under their health issurance and legally still their daughter, i pay for my own expenses, from food, clothing, school supplies, car insurance and payments, to medication and doctors apt.s not covered. while i lived there, they used to kick me out frequently but always begged me to come back. they even tried to sign off custody of me once. money is always an issue for me, im not even going to prom because of it. i receive no money from my parents. do they legally have to give me money to make it on my own? also, with the tax rebate coming up my father will get back at least $300 for having me as his daughter but shouldnt that be mine? is he legally allowed to keep it since im not 18?

Lance asked: The ideas seem to make sense, but they could be enacted right away. There is no need for them just to be an attachment to another bill. Why wait? I think the fraud prevention idea is a little weak. Much of the fraud happens within the government and by ordering supplies through Medicare–not as a patient is seeing a doctor. It is from fake patients and padded bills.
Here are the ideas:
sending investigators disguised as patients to uncover fraud and waste; expanding medical malpractice reform pilot programs; increasing payments to Medicaid providers and expanding the use of health savings accounts.
I find the last one interesting, because the current health care bills propose to limit the tax benefits of health savings accounts.
He also agreed with McCain that a special deal for Florida should be removed. What about CT, LA, NE, & MA? Wouldn’t it make more sense just to tackle these four right away than muddle through these 2,000 page monsters filled with special local goodies?
tehabwa, obviously with 2,000+ pages there are going to be more things in there than special deals. Mainly, the Democrats who voted for it admitted to not reading it. There are a lot of items in there about taking from one group to give to another. THAT DOES NOT LOWER THE OVERALL COST!!! Do you realize that extra procedures due to fear of lawsuits with uncapped punitive damages cost more than the whole bill? No, because you have allowed yourself to be brainwashed. Don’t just read the bill, use game theory to predict actions of all involved parties. Fraud in Government run health care is at 20% versus 1% for private sector fraud. If we disallow differences in premiums for smokers versus non-smokers, who is providing the subsidy? I am because I take care of myself. I don’t want to. The Republican ideas reduce overall costs. That’s why Obama has changed his mind!!!

Linda K asked:
Ok our population is about 301 million about 200 are 18 and up.divide 200 million into 85 billion that would be 425,000.00 not tax free assume 30% taxes. which would send 25billion 500,000 to uncle sam after that we would get 297,000,00 each. what could we do with that ? pay off mortgages buy a home=housing crisis solved #2. pay off college loans=great boost for new grads.#3 put money away for college it will be there.#4 open a savings account= create money to lend Entrepreneurs #5 buy a car again creating jobs#6 Invest in the market=capital drives growth #7 buy health insurance= health care improves. As for AIG Liquidate it and sell off its parts Let american General go back to being American General Sell off the real estate let the private sector bargain hunters cut it up and clean it up.This is something that I read about and maybe this money could be spread out over a period of time,I am sure there are many things to consider I would like your feed back on this Thank you

thegubmint asked: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091020/ap_on_re_us/us_college_costs
College tuition is every bit as out of control, maybe more so, than health care costs. And for what reason? The CPI is going down, yet tuition continues to rise. Is it time to create some huge federal entity to take over all the colleges to ensure that everyone has fair and affordable access to a college education? Perhaps we should mandate that everyone have a government administered college fund savings account that they mandatorily have to contribute a portion of their earning to, or face some draconian fine if they don’t. And lets rake college eduation providers over the coals to make sure they aren’t doing anything out of line. What about those university Presidents’ salaries and bonus structures? Those guys make millions. Shouldn’t someone do something about that?

Neal asked: My local Blue Cross Blue Shield is what nearly everyone in my area has. They do not offer any high-deductible plans that cover only major illnesses/injuries. All their plans cover everything from sprained ankles to the common cold. As a result, all their plans are unreasonably expensive for what I want.
I don’t need or want to pay for coverage for every little thing. I just want coverage for major things costing many thousands of dollars (e.g., cancer, a broken neck, etc). I’ll use a Health Savings Account for common everyday health care.
Where should I look for this kind of coverage? If no local health insurance companies are offering it in my area, can I buy it from some national or out-of-region company?
Thanks!
