After wedding blues?
Depressed and don’t know what to do…?
After we got married (2 months ago) I got laid off from a very well paying job at a law firm. I got another job soon after that pays a dollar less per hour and does not provide health insurance…only HSA which is a glorified savings account. The job itself however is not bad and I don’t **** it…the coworkers are fantastic and the hours are great.
The problem is financial…this apartment complex we have lived in for the past 3 years has gone downhill….the people look rough…I’ve had my clothes stolen out of the dryer…and the neighbors below us smoke like chimneys and it is affecting my husband’s health. The landlord will do nothing and my husband refuses to move until we get a house.
But we can’t afford a down payment for a house!! We barely make 40 thousand together yearly….we are just now trying to recover from wedding costs and pay off credit card debt…
On top of that we want a family and we are pushing 30 but I said no…not until we get our finances in order. And then buy a house.
My life is at a standstill…we are just too poor…

Is the mother of the bride suppose to pay for?
I have paid for the dress and bargained shopped for $ 900.00 in other items used in the wedding including his wedding band! Then I put $100.00 in the wedding account. Ok it started out a Church wedding. This is my daughter I raised alone. My x -husband choose not to be in her life in any manner $ either. I was upset when the groom changed the wedding to the Beach, I told my daughter that I would adjust, Then Its a reception has turned into 1000.00s of dollars. I told them I would pay for the wedding which is about $300.00 more and I’m done. My daughter should know I spent my savings on all of this, and I live on disability. I have a lot of health problems that one may prevent me from going to the wedding, I have to have surgery 3 weeks before the wedding, unless I put it off. This is making me feel horrible but there is nothing I can do. I can’t get a loan because I can’t pay it back. Her father is a dead beat dad D>L> that has money and will not help. Any suggestions?

Thinking about eloping?
My fiance and I made plans for June 2009 wedding, and have starting saving for it. We have about 1/2 of what we’ll need in a separate savings account. I was getting really exited planning everything, and then sh*# hit the fan at work. I think I’m going to get fired very soon, and the way current economy is, I doubt I’ll find a comparable job any time soon. I’m really scared about my finances (I transferred everything from my savings to the wedding account) and really, really stressed out. I can’t afford to be unemployed for long and I don’t event want to think about what will happen if I lose my health insurance. Planning an expensive wedding sounds ridiculous if I end up broke in a month or two. On the other hand, I don’t want my fiance to think he has to get eloped and start taking care of unemployed woman who is not even so much fun to be around with right now (yes, I’m super stressed and cry all the time). I know he would marry me tomorrow if I asked him to… Help! I think I’m losing my mind!
