Pro-Lifers, Should Pregnant Women Be Required To Get Separate Passports For Their Unborn Babies?
If its a person entitled to legal protection from murder then shouldn’t all the rules of personhood apply?
Should it need its own passport?
Should a mother be able to start a bank account on behalf of her child at the moment of conception rather than birth?
Should parents be able to take out a life insurance policy for their child when the child is still in the womb?
Should the mother have to name the unborn baby as a dependent before its even born in order for it to benefit from her health insurance? Should operations done to save the unborn baby not be covered unless she does?
Should the unborn baby get the right to due process? If the mother commits a crime should they not be able to put her in jail because doing so necessarily entails putting the innocent unborn baby in their with her?
Should unborn babies be counted in the census? Would we see states starting campaigns telling women to get pregnant just before the census is taken to up their recorded population and get more representatives and electoral votes?
Laws against killing pets=/=murder. Are you suggesting abortion should be illegal even though it isn’t murder? If it is murder that presupposes personhood. If not then you gotta come up with another reason for making it illegal.
As for the babies not having names if the unborn are people then shouldn’t we change that too and have the babies named even before they are born?
As for staying with a relative, how is an unborn baby going to leave the womb to stay with a relative while mommy’s in prison?
I see your point with the census but couldn’t the same argument be used to only count older children in the census, because sometimes already-born babies die. If unborn babies are persons it wouldn’t be “wrong” just because some will wind up being miscarried because the census is supposed to reflect the actual number of persons at the time it is taken and if the unborn are people to get that # theyd need 2b counted. If the unborn are ppl then they were ppl even if they dont make it.

@ Anna,
No I am actually pro-life. I’m just consistent about considering the unborn people.
They are people so there’s no reason not to name them in the womb. That some tragically are miscarried is not a reason to consider them retroactively not people. They were people who unfortunately succumbed to illness or injury in the womb. They were real people just like any newborn who dies of an illness or injury while a newborn was a real person.
As for the passport photo the ultrasound is good enough.

Question About Health Insurance For Newborn?
Im 30 weeks pregnant and I’ve been looking into health insurance policies for our soon-to-be newborn due in June. Because it’s too expensive to put her on my insurance ($400+ monthly) I’ve been looking on ehealthinsurance.com to find plans.
All these policies cover different things such as Rx, health savings accounts, maternity, etc. My question is, do I need to get a policy that covers maternity in order to get coverage for our newborn? I thought maternity was only for PREGNANT women but there are so many different definitions that I’m confused. Help me out please!
Also, I have my own insurance policy through my work and will not be needing this health insurance. It will only be used for the baby. Thanks!

Flex-spending insurance: is it good for preggo moms?
We just switched insurance types from typical insurance, to insurance that has a “Health Savings Account” with it, and increased prices for doctor visits, etc. My employer put $600 in the savings account, and I must put $600 more in before I’m fully covered. I’ll be covered before I have the baby, but it seems like I’ll thn only have $1200 to spend on medical bills this year. Granted, it rolls over to the next year, but once it’s gone, it’s gone. Anyone else have any experience with this? I wanted to ask the insurance guy who came to my job to explain everything, but no one yet knows I’m preggo, and I didn’t want to spill the beans until I’m out of the 1st tri. BTW, this plan is through Coventry. Thanks ahead of time for any info!!
Yes, they were quite clear on that. Not to mention that if we REALLY need money, we can withdraw from the account (which collects interest as well), though we would have to pay a %10 penalty if audited. It SOUNDS good.. but I’m afraid to run out of money!!

How much would an entire pregnancy cost from a medical standpoint only? (in the U.S.)?
I know there are a lot of similar questions out there, and I’ve read through them and still haven’t found a straight-up answer. I realize every situation is completely different. However, to help me select health insurance, or consider deductibles for a health savings account, I’d really appreciate any ballpark estimates of how much an entire pregnancy and delivery would cost us from a medical standpoint only, broken down into two categories:
-The typical cost of medical visits, ultrasounds, etc. leading up to delivery
-The cost of an actual vaginal delivery w/o complications (traditional hospital setting in U.S., including all costs)
The reason I’d like these broken up is that my husband is commissioning in the Air Force in 10 months and since we haven’t become pregnant yet, there’s a good chance we may have the actual delivery covered, but I want to know what kind of a deductible to choose for my HSA. (We live in Utah)
I REALLY appreciate your help! I can’t thank you enough.
I recently quit my job to do some freelance work and decided not to opt for Cobra because it is extremely expensive and I really don’t even know if I’d even use the coverage. However, before I quit my job we had been trying to have a baby and I really don’t want to put that on hold for almost a year especially since we’ve been so unsuccessful so far. I’ve recently looked into HSA (health savings accounts) which look like a good option because we’d pay much less than Cobra or even traditional insurance plans, but we wouldn’t lose all the money if we couldn’t get pregnant anyway. I’m trying to get a ballpark of how much the pre-delivery part of a pregnancy costs so I can choose an appropriate deductible. Again, I REALLY appreciate any advice.

Are 3D ultrasounds eligible for reimbursement by an FSA (flexible spending account)?
I want to know if anyone has actually gotten an elective 3D ultrasound while they were pregnant (just to see their baby, not for any medical necessity) and has actually been reimbursed by their employer’s FSA or health savings account.
If so, was it easy to do? Did you need a receipt or any special form?
