Can i get my mothers stolen money back?

D asked:

we live in the UK and at this moment in time my brother is under a criminal investigation and now sits in jail on remand, this has come as a shock to the family as this person was a hard working so called pillar of society.

as if thats not bad enough, this crisis has uncovered a web of deceit and theivery that is totally seperate from the current investigation. Too get straight too the point it goes like this, i have an elderly mother who has been in and out of care homes and hospital due to ill health for the past no of years, she recieves disability allowance for this, she also recieves her pension as she worked all her life, she also recieves a pension credit on top of this. my brother who is currently in jail and under investigation for a different possible offence, was the card holder as he is the eldest and dealt with her money on a weekly basis but now that he is in jail i am now the card holder and have discovered that my mothers account is empty, inheritance money , life savings and benefit payments in the range of 50 grand has dissappeared. we have strong reason to believe that my brother and his wife and children have wiped her account and have been using her bank card as an when required for their high lifstyle they were enjoying until now (even though there was only one breadwinner in their family) , the problem is, my mother is very upset because of the current investigation and does not want anymore trouble therefore she wont report this theft…i want to report this theft and hopefully get these so called family members in court to pay every penny back but at the min i dont know what if any legs i have to stand on to go about this.

a few more points; my brother was the cardholder but we’ve also discovered that the money was lifted from my mothers account and then put into a joint account belonging to my brother and his wife, who to our shock should have had no access to this money whatsoever.

i am going to take this as far as possible to get this money back but as my mother does not want to push it , can anyone tell me where i stand and what actions can i take to recover this money even though my sick elderly mother wants to leave it.? I am going to see a solictitor about this as well as the police but i wish to get a wider pointer of view on here first thanks.

the members involved are not aware of my intentions but obviously know that my mother and myself know that money is missing, they have been keeping a low profile…waiting i suspect..
anyway as said, my brother was the card holder

Another question about being pulled over randomly?

health savings account
TLH713 asked:

Hello. I posted a question last night. My question was that I was pulled over this past weekend, in light traffic, and the offiicer stated that I was he pulled me over b/c when he ran my plate, just randomly, that I came back as a person with an expired Visa. He clearly saw that I would have no reason to have a Visa..even laughed about it. I had him double check his info..he came back to my car and stated he called dispatch..and they confirmed his reasoning. I called DMV today, as he instructed me to, and they have NO record of any of this. What concerns me is that a few months ago I applied for a HSA account which is a health savings account and that came back with a concern on my identity. I had to prove who I was. I finally did get my HSA cards ( my spouse is an engineer for Homeland Security in NYC). So..who is right? The officer or the DMV? How could the officer make this mistake, if that is truly what happened? He ran me twice..If a cop is out there..can you answer this 4 me? Ty
To Sunshine..yes I am an American. I was born here..and both sides of my family have lived in the same area for at least 5 generations. I have neve rleft the country..not even the East Coast..lol..Anyway..to all who replied, Thank You..I’m going to look into this further..maybe it isn’t in DMV’s sytem..but the officer saw it in his..which was honetly my question. Can a cop see soemthing like that..that DMV can’t? I’m so nerve racked..that I’m typing as fast as my brain is thinking..The officer was very pleasant. That’s why in a way..I trust him more so than the lady on the phone at MV..lol..Anyway..I’ll contactthe credit agency’s, etc. Hopefully – it was just a simple mistake. Thanks to all and enjoy your day.
