Whats with ppl saying there are ppl in need of healthcare? PLS READ DETAILS?

health savings account
Basement Cat, resurrected again asked:

my sister has no health insurance and no savings accounts, she has ridden an ambulance to the hospital 5 times to the ER for anxiety, and is now in the hospital for at least 5 days in private room with meds, food and etc. and will most likely need a major surgery and she has never paid a cent to the bills and they never cared. The last few days in the hospital she has gotten better treatment than i did the 2 months i was in the hospital and they got 500 grand from me and my insurance. So those who say the poor need free health insurance have no idea what they are talking about.

not to mention the free money she gets from govt. and food stamps for no reason except she doesnt want to work more than part-time
Im wondering who are these ppl who are in need of healthcare are, wow you must think every question in yahoo answers is rambling
when i said she got meds that ment meds, and also they get tons free healthcare now the need optional stuff such as checkups free too, you must fall into this category

Disability and Child Support Question?

health savings account
Two of us asked:

Tiny bit of back detail.. My husbands ex wife does not have any custody rights to their children (although she is allowed supervised visits) and of course does not pay her very minimal child support. She is an admitted and obvious prescription and narcotic drug abuser. She has no job, no car, yada yada… Well she had been on unemployment up until last week or the week before and we have now learned she is trying for disability. Which would most likely be a fraud case, but whatever. It would most likely be a mental health claim. So I guess I have two questions… how long would it take for her to get approved, if she could. And also, would the children see any money from this? Do they pull child support? Do the kids get a so-called “cut” from her disability or because of her disability? It’s not about the money per se, but we would like to put some away in their college savings accounts if they ever do get any…. Thanks for any advice!

not quite emancipated but living on my own?

health savings account
jessica s asked:

i havent lived with my parents for nearly two years. im seventeen. since i was a minor at 15, my savings account that i was putting the money from my 3 jobs was legally under my fathers name. he withdrew all $600 and refuses to give it back to me. that was about a year ago. now even though im still under their health issurance and legally still their daughter, i pay for my own expenses, from food, clothing, school supplies, car insurance and payments, to medication and doctors apt.s not covered. while i lived there, they used to kick me out frequently but always begged me to come back. they even tried to sign off custody of me once. money is always an issue for me, im not even going to prom because of it. i receive no money from my parents. do they legally have to give me money to make it on my own? also, with the tax rebate coming up my father will get back at least $300 for having me as his daughter but shouldnt that be mine? is he legally allowed to keep it since im not 18?

3. Multistage time to grow
A bacteria population grows from 1,575 bacterial at noon one day to 2,616 bacteria later that same day at 7 pm. How long will it take (from 7 pm) for the culture to grow to 12,244 bacteria?
Express your answer in hours elapsed since 7 pm to the nearest tenth hour, not as the time of day. (Hint: Subtract the time elapsed from noon to 7 from your answer for time)
This is another two-stage problem. First you must find the relative growth rate r (keep to high degree of precision) and then the time to grow to the stated amount.

5. Exponential Functions
Which functions below are exponential functions? Mark all that apply.

_______The amount of a particular pollutant in a lake if filtering removes 2% each year.
________Average health care costs per person if these costs double every 8 years.
_________The Dow Jones Industrial Average (stock market index) each day.

6. Linear Functions
Select all the functions that are linear in the list below.

Considering switching to a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) with an HSA, thoughts? Anyone have one?

health savings account
laraby9 asked:

Please help, we are deciding whether to switch to a new health insurance plan where the deductible is $1500 per person, then once that’s met, we would pay %10 of in network care costs. With the plan we could set up an HSA (health savings account) but we’re not sure we want to do this since we are likely to be trying to get pregnant this year.

Does anyone have one of these plans? The benefit is it costs much less each month in insurance premiums, the downside seems to be all the recordkeeping involved, plus having to pay for medical expenses out of pocket as they arrive, until you’re past the $1500 deductible. Then, if we’re still on the hook for 10%, I don’t know how that would translate if one of us needed surgery or something expensive .. if having a baby for example were to cost $10,000 at a hospital, we’d have to pay $1000 of that (10%). The plan is about $3000 less a year in monthly premium costs, but feels like more of a gamble.

Please share your experiences or thoughts on these kinds of plans. Also, are the doctors who accept these plans the same as the ones who accept the traditional co-pay kinds of plans? Or will it narrow our network by switching?
p.s. The High Deductible Plan will save us approx $3,000 on our insurance premiums for the year.

Should I get a divorce?

health savings account
Christina asked:

I have wanted to get a divorce for many years. We are currently selling our house. I have moved to another state with him so he could take another job because he was about to be laid off. I am currently not working. Is it possible to divorce at this time? I was told that I would have to have a full time job what would allow me to be independant for at least a year with benefits until everything was settled. He makes all the money and I’m afraid he will empty the accounts if I even discuss this with him. I was also told I would have to freeze checking and savings accounts and take steps to keep him from cancelling my health benefits and auto insurance. What should I do? Please help. Also, I was told I would have to divorce in the state he lives in our house being sold is in another state which is where I would rather be.
I feel like because I have changed locations so much to benefit his career mine has suffered and I’m not able to make enough money to get by
No children I’m in my 40′s
We talked about it kiddingly and he said thats ok..you wont get any money. I have been married for 21 years
I only would want to be fair but I suspect he will get nasty about it
No he’s not abusive I’m just exhausted with all the demands of the marriage..everything is centered around him and his career..his family.his friends

My husband insists on tithing and thus leaves me to pay more than half of the bills. What can I do?

health savings account
krelcalu asked:

My husband tithes his 10% to his church every week. We went through a rough spot in our marriage some time ago and he believed it was because he had stopped going to church. For nearly a year now he has been back to church and pays a full 10% of gross salary every week. I am the one who monitors the rent, childcare, and utility bills for the household and my husband gives a set amount every week to help with bills. I have been paying $400 more a month than him to cover bills because he refuses to stop tithing. He has also stopped paying his credit card bills and has not enrolled in a health care program nor has he bought life insurance and he has no bank account, no savings, and retirement plan. We have another child on the way and are currently raising a toddler, with a upcoming maternity leave, I know we are in for a struggle with his tithing. I am concerned that we will wind up in a deeper hole. I told him we have to cut on something, if you insist on tithing then we cut Christmas gifts only buy for the children. He refuses. I’m going to have two young children and I just want the best for them I want us to save, to have our own home and we can’t even get on track. I don’t believe you have to pay for blessings and I don’t believe we are tied to laws of the old testament as Christians. My mother was recently evicted and I couldn’t help her and then I think about that $40 to $60 every week that my husband gives. I even suggested lowering the donation amount but no that doesn’t work for him either. It’s tithes+donation. When I speak against tithes my husband says its the devil talking. This is putting a strain on our marriage. I don’t appreciate being criticized in my own home or being demeaned because I don’t believe what he does. He has always been religious and when we met he went to church occassionaly up to twice a month or so and I sometimes went with him. After he insisted on tithing my attendence slowed because I didn’t think we could handle paying a combined $140 a week. I want our marriage to work but being in this situation is stressing us both out. I want him to understand financial responsibility and understand what I go through week to week trying to make ends meet. It’s not fair for him to tell me that he will pay his tithes first and then if he has enough to cover half of the bills he wil give it to me. Do you think there is some compromise we can make? From a religious perspective is there any biblical evidence that releases christians from tithing? A part of me wants to leave and let him handle things on his own for a while and see how it is but I work full time am in college as well and am going through a high risk pregnancy. I am at the end of my ropes, I don’t want to leave my husband but at times I feel as though he brings more stress to my life. I went from mixed family to a broken home to a couple of supposed step daddies and and mommies and have a slew of halfs- and steps-, I don’t want that for my children. What else can I do to make this work? We have other problems of course but this is our greatest stressor since I’ve been pregnant.

Responsible financing?

health savings account
Elizabeth asked:

I am wondering what should a responsible young family have financially.I am 21 married with 2 children under two. I do not know how to “make my money work for me”. My husband is a subcontractor and is working toward his license and ultimately his own business. He has a 1099 and a W-2 split 65%-35% of the “contracted Job” . We do not have a 401k etc or benefits, I really don’t know what any of these kind of things are. our adjusted gross income is about 48,000… We just bought a house for 93,000. we have a saving and checking account but everything is just put into checking and spent as it comes. I do not know how much should be in a savings account for “emergencies” or what we should save for; car, house. vacation. retirement. education etc. right now we have 93,000 for our house 8000 student loan and 8000 car loan in total debt…. how much should be taken from each check and put into a savings account each week. what is an IRA 401K stock, life insurance, health insurance etc …
Please don’t make me feel bad for the size of our income or my ignorance. Both of my parents are disabled and while I was growing up we made about 10,000 a year for a family of 5. I am just learning how to raise my family to be financially responsible and I want to do it right.

Frankly …. If you could BOSS a young family around financially what would you do?
